Running in three steps.

01

Unzip and start

Unzip it on a Windows server - it is one folder, Ekalix. Sign in as the account that will run it and double-click Ekalix.cmd. It checks the server and opens the page.

Create its database

Enter your SQL Server instance, press Test, then Create the database. You become the first Owner. Keep the exported key file safe.

Add servers

Press Add server for each SQL Server instance, Windows, IIS or MongoDB server. Monitoring starts at once. Install your licence under Administration, Licence.

What you need

  • A Windows Server 2016 or later to run Ekalix. Windows PowerShell 5.1 is built in; nothing else is installed.
  • A SQL Server 2016 SP1 or later for the Ekalix database, any edition. About 30 MB per monitored server for two years of history - SQL Server Express is enough up to about 300 servers.
  • Read-only rights on the SQL Servers you watch; WinRM (TCP 5985) and local admin on Windows and IIS servers; a read-only monitoring user on MongoDB.
  • Edge or Chrome for the people who use it. They sign in with their Windows account.

Your trial, then your licence

  • The trial licence is made out to your company: 14 days, up to 100 servers, every feature.
  • Buy at any time and the same licence becomes paid - same licence id, nothing to reinstall. From $499 a server a year, less as you grow: see pricing.
  • Units: a SQL Server instance, an IIS server or a MongoDB member is 1; a Windows server on its own is a half.
  • A trial stops collecting when its 14 days end; a paid licence keeps collecting for 30 days after its end date. Either way, a new licence carries on where it stopped, and everything collected stays readable.
